Notice to Mariners
Port of Corner Inlet and Port Albert
Location: Port Albert Fairway
DATE: 29 June 2018
DETAILS: Mariners are advised that the 2018 exchange of navigation buoyage program in Corner Inlet has been completed. Notice to Mariners No 208(T) is referred and cancelled.
The exchanged buoys in Corner Inlet have been established in the same positions as previously promulgated. Those buoys include;
- Corner Inlet Main Channel – No.4 (Fl.R.2s) & No.5 (Fl.G.3s).
- Benison Spit East Cardinal (Q(3).10s).
- Stockyard Channel – No.2 (Fl.R.4s) & No.4 (Fl.R.8s).
Following a recent survey and due to a significant change in the configuration of the approach at the entrance to Port Albert the Fairway and Outer Green buoys have been re-established in new positions, Details follow;
The Port Albert Fairway buoy (LFl.10s) formerly in position;
- Lat. 38º 43.974’ S
- Lon. 146º 42.675’ E – has been withdrawn from service
The new Port Albert Fairway buoy (LFl.10s) has been established in position;
- Lat. 38º 45.575’ S
- Lon. 146º 42.183’ E Datum WGS84
The Port Albert Outer Green buoy (Fl.G.3s) formerly in position;
- Lat. 38º 44.743’ S
- Lon. 146º 41.261’ E – has been withdrawn from service
The new Port Albert Outer Green buoy (Fl.G.3s) has been established in position;
- Lat. 38º 45.216’ S
- Lon. 146º 41.387’ E Datum WGS84
Mariners are advised to take notice of the changed positions of the buoyage at the approach to Port Albert and adjust passage plans accordingly. The latest bathymetric survey for the approach and the Port Albert entrance can be downloaded from the Gippsland Ports website at; https://www.gippslandports.vic.gov.au/publications/bathymetric-surveys/
