PORT OF GIPPSLAND LAKES

LATROBE RIVER-HAZARD TO NAVIGATION

Date:  22 August 2014

Details:  Mariners are advised that a large river gum has been uprooted from the bank of the Latrobe River and is protruding approximately 40 metres into the river and partially obstructing the fairway. The hazard is located approximately 9 kilometers upstream of the river mouth in GPS position;

38° 08.409′ South

14r 09.044′ East WGS84 Datum.

A yellow conical buoy exhibiting a yellow flashing light with characteristics FI.Y 4s has been deployed adjacent to the fallen tree.

The fallen tree has been reported to relevant authorities Mariners are advised to take extra precaution when navigating in this area of the Latrobe River which is subject to a 10 knot speed restriction.
