Local Navigation Notice

Port of Anderson Inlet

Location: Anderson Inlet and channels

DATE:  28 November 2020

DETAILS:  Mariners are advised that due to the dynamic nature of the Anderson Inlet waterway, near the entrance and inner channels, and following a recent bathymetric survey, it has been identified that sandy shoals have formed upstream of the Inverloch Boat Ramp. Channel configurations are inconsistent for the time being which has made it necessary for Gippsland Ports to temporarily withdraw three aids to navigation immediately upstream from the Boat Ramp. The three buoys that have been temporarily withdrawn are;

  • Starboard Lateral mark Buoy No 3.   Former Position: Lat. 38° 38.224´ S     Lon. 145° 44.142´ E
  • Port Lateral mark Buoy No 4.             Former Position: Lat. 38° 38.222´ S     Lon.145° 44.102´ E
  • Port Lateral mark buoy No.6               Former position:  Lat. 38⁰ 38.413’ S     Lon. 145⁰ 44.212’ E Datum WGS84

Due to the constant changing configuration of the Anderson Inlet channel Mariners are advised to check the Gippsland Ports Waterways Online website for the current positions of navigation buoys.
