Location: Latrobe River – vicinity of the Swing Bridge

DATE:  18 December 2019

DETAILS:  Mariners are advised that two new tree snags have been identified near and upstream of the Latrobe River Swing Bridge. The trees lie on opposite sides and encroach into the river from the riverbank. The northern snag is separated from the riverbank and the southern snag remains rooted into the riverbank.

The trees are quite visible during daylight hours. Photos taken on 17 th December are referred on page 2 of this Notice.

Mariners are advised to take extra precaution when navigating in the area of the Swing Bridge near the confluence of the Latrobe and Thomson Rivers.

Mariners are advised that tree snags are common on the entire length of the Latrobe and Thomson Rivers, and the Rivers are speed restricted to 5 knots and should only be transited during daylight hours.
