Notice to Mariners

Port of Corner Inlet and Port Albert

Location: Corner Inlet, Stockyard Channel, Toora Channel & Port Albert

DATE:  13 May 2022

DETAILS:  Mariners are advised that the major buoy exchange program has been completed. The following buoys have been exchanged with no changes to positions, number or light flash character.
1. Corner Inlet Main Channel – No.2 Port Lateral Mark Buoy (Fl.R.4s)
2. Toora Channel – No.9 Starboard Lateral Mark Buoy (Iso.G.2s)
3. Stockyard Channel – No.2 Port Lateral Mark Buoy (Fl.R.4s)
4. Stockyard Channel – No.4 Port Lateral Mark Buoy (Fl.R.8s)
5. Port Albert Approach – Inner Port Lateral Mark Buoy (Fl.R.2s)
The exchange also included the Barry Beach Channel – East Cardinal Mark Buoy. The buoy has been re-established in a new position approximately 18 metres to the NW of the original position. The flash character remains unchanged (VQ.(3).5s). The new position of the East Cardinal Mark Buoy is,
Lat. 38° 43.319’ S
Lon. 146° 22.547’ E
The Tug Albatross and Dive Support vessel Shearwater have resumed normal Gippsland Ports Operations at Lakes Entrance and Port Welshpool. Photos of the new buoys are attached to this Notice.
Mariners are advised to contact the Gippsland Ports Harbour Master on 0427 610 025 to report any unlit or off station aids to navigation.
