Based on analysis of observed tides at Lakes Entrance an average time variation from the Port Welshpool (Rabbit Island) predictions has been found of 2 hrs 36mins which has been adopted for 2004.

The variations for Point Hicks, Marlo, Mallacoota and Gabo Island have been deduced from the Australian National Tide Tables variations for Eden.

Analysis also shows a great variance with the time of tide being regularly 25 mins both earlier and later with some variations to 40 mins.  Therefore caution must be taken when using the Rabbit Island predictions for East Gippsland.
